Dreams come true…The MARAS 2018

5th November 2018

Well what can I say, it has been one of most amazing weeks we’ve ever had since opening in 2015. I’ll start with what I’m most proud, honoured and still in shock about…last night was the Manchester Arndale Retail Awards 🏆, we knew we were up for nomination for Best Children’s store against some amazing well known stores such as Disney and Lego. Knowing the competition all of us thought that we had zero chance of winning, but were super chuffed to even be going to the awards.

When we arrived we were overwhelmed at the size of the awards, so many people and such an amazing venue and we were sat on a table with the lovely WED2B (as there was only 3 of us). We had some delicious food and lots of fizz 🥂 when our category started to be announced. I thought my heart was going to come through my chest when the man started to say ‘we received feedback such as ‘we love it here as much as the children’’ as we hear this so much from you guys. Then….’Emily’s Paint A Pot!’. I don’t think myself, Nicola and Lorna have ever jumped up and down as much in our lives 😍!

By the time we got on the stage the tears were flowing😭- I must have looked like such a geek, but I just could not believe it and it felt like all those 12 hour days have been 100% worth it💪. When we sat back at table listening to the other categories we were even more pleased that Gino’s and Sargent Ceasers 💈also won awards.

Just as I was chatting away the final award was about to be announced- the biggie- the Excellence award🥇 . The man started to say ‘less than one year they have been in the Arndale and with their second award of the night… Emily’s Paint A Pot’. Well I think it took me two minutes to actually register what had just happened, I looked up and Lorna and Nicola were on their way to the stage so I ran after them💃. There we were, our tiny team on stage collecting The Excellence award!!!!!!! So so so proud of them, all of my team go above and beyond for me and our customers and genuinely care that people enjoy themselves.

My only tiny drama of the evening was when I got home (after quite a bit of fizz) I left the champagne we’d won on the sofa 🛋 in a material bag… it fell over and I woke up to almost a full bottle of it all over my new sofa. The smell of it as I’m feeling a bit worse for wear is quite something😑.

This afternoon I went to see my Grandad who is unwell in hospital at the moment, it was so great to see his face when I told him about the awards and I even took one to show him 😂, they weigh so much too!

The rest of this week has been spent planning and hosting the most spectacular children’s party we have ever hosted 🎂. The brief was a birthday party in the theme of Halloween for super lucky little girl. The room was dressed by a fabulous company called Walter and the Boy and the food was all Halloween 🎃 themed created by us.

We did something we have never done which was Neon painting and we lit up the room with a neon light. The pumpkins looked sooo cool in the light. We also made monsters, baubles, slime and did Halloween party games that were such a laugh, such as pumpkin bowling and piñata’s with broomsticks to hit it with.

I don’ think I’ve ever seen as much glitter in my life, even the personalised aprons were personalised with glitter! Also I’m not sure who enjoyed it more, us or the kids 😂. I’ll post some photo’s later on in the week.

Right, that is enough from me for now, but one last thing… watch out for our up and coming events such as Crafternoon Tea with Santa🎅 , Free photoshoot day and Pottery and Prosecco night. For more info take a look at our events page on the website.

Thank you for your continued support, we could not have won theses awards without our fabulous customers amazing feedback 🙏x
